Well it has been almost a year now since the website has been up and running and registration has been active since the end of October 2011 - lots of time to register. Registration is now closed and key events like the Hafleh and BBQ are filled to capacity. We look forward to seeing everyone in PEI.
We are about 6 weeks from the final paid registration date. The early bird registration ended April 30th. We are over half way to our maximum number of registrations for the booklets. If you haven't registered yet...you need to do it soon or your event options will be limited.
We have the mugs...they look awesome! From the Island Stone Collection - Right Off the Batt Pottery - microwave/dishwasher safe and were made specially for us! http://plc2012charlottetown.weebly.com/ If you click and order, pre-pay we will have them available for pick up at the conference.
Tourism News - Summerfest 2012 June 29 to July 1, 2012
on the Charlottetown Waterfront http://www.tourismcharlottetown.ca/festivals-and-events/summerfest-canada-day/
This weekend long festival features festivities at the Charlottetown waterfront, multiple events throughout the city and free Canada Day activities that include the biggest fireworks show east of Ottawa.
Registration Deadline: Due to our very small parish size plus a limitation on venue numbers due to fire codes/tourism business
requirements we established the final registration deadline as June 15th. Tourism is PEI's number one industry and it is the Canada Day weekend. Several events are happening off site requiring transportation to be pre-booked two weeks out from the event. The Hafleh Lobster supper venue is currently holding 150 seats for us as they are booking whole buses (from tour companies) and we are required to have firm numbers to them 2 weeks prior to the event. Unfortunately, we are unable to register on-site for these events due to these limitations unique to PEI and its tourism focused province. www.tourismpei.com
Here are our number limits: (In the coming weeks we will let you know as events fill up and are no longer taking bookings for those events).
_Lobster Dinner Halfeh (part of ticket book) is 150 (fire code for the dance after the lobster supper limits us to 150 people)
_Antiochian Women Luncheon/Tour is 50 people.
_Saturday BBQ is 150
_Sunday Awards Luncheon is 150
Please register as soon as possible and avoid disappointment. Registration form and schedule attached. Website

We have Right Off the Batt Pottery http://www.rightoffthebatt.com/ making custom mugs for gifts and also for pre-sale for those interested in buying them. The mugs will be made based on the Island Stone collection with that nice red soil look. Each mug will have a hand drawn Orthodox Cross embossed on it. The cost of the mugs will be $25. A add to cart button will be added soon to the Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church website in the next 2 weeks with a picture of the mug. To pre-order please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting a mug...we will have it ready for pick up at the conference. For those staying on the Island, we highly recommend a visit to Right Off the Batt Pottery in Borden! Or Play in the Clay for groups :-)
Size: Did you know that PEI's entire Island population is smaller than some cities? Our population is approximately 142,000 people. Technically our capital city of Charlottetown population of 44,000 doesn't qualify to be a city but our Province needed a capital!
Land: You will find white sand or red sand depending on where you go to the beach on the Island. All our soil is red due to the high iron content.
Carole A. Buleza, Director of the Antiochian Archdiocese Department of Christian Education will speak on ""Ideas for Lively Bible Studies."
Bible stories are formative for any Christian at any age. This session will provide ideas to engage in lively Bible studies at any age, and with any size group. Bible study methods such as coloring the text, dramatization, memorization games, depiction through visual art, reader's theater, and even homework (!), will be explored through a hands-on approach. "For the Word of
God is living and active..." (Heb. 4:12)
Carole was appointed to the position of Director of the Department of Christian Education for the Antiochian Archdiocese in January 2000. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Religion, with a specialty in Religious Education. Also in conjunction with the OCEC, Carole introduced the teacher training program "Educating Ourselves and
Our Children in Godliness" which has provided hundreds of teachers throughout North America with the resources and training for success in the church school classroom. She gratefully acknowledges that, "It is only by God's grace and with the help of my dedicated staff, the Order of St. Ignatius, members of the OCEC Board of Trustees, and especially His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP, that we are able to provide such resources for Christian Education. May God continue to bless our efforts."
